A: The length of time the class takes differs depending on the subject and clients current knowledge.
First Time Certification
•Module 1: Adult, Child and Infant CPR - 4 hrs.
•Module II: First Aid - 3.5-5 hrs
•Module III: Adult CPR & AED - 4 hrs. AED only -1 hrs.
•Module IV: CPR / AED / First Aid Pediatric (Title 22) 8 hours required.
A: According to various regulations which differ by your State, to qualify for a re-certification course, the student must possess a current CPR provider card, demonstrating that he or she has completed an approved 4-hour course within the last two years. There is no grace period. Only a student with a current CPR card may be eligible to “Re-Certify” at a discount.
Pediatric (Title 22) Course is an 8 hour mandated course, certified or re-certification.
A: The length of a CPR re-certification course should be at least 2.5 hours often up to 3 hours depending on size of class and their knowledge. Each student must receive an original training manual. If taking CPR & First Aid re-certification class it would be 5 hours
A: Yes, each student must pass the written exam after the course with an 80% and pass the practice to 100% satisfaction of the instructor.
A: Class size is generally 1 to 10 individuals. A Special scheduled one-on-one class is available if a group class is not available.
If your attending an American Heart Association class, maximum size is 6 individuals.
A:There is nothing in the current Practice Act that requires a licensed practitioner to have a CPR card to deliver respiratory care services. However, depending on where someone is employed there are other state and federal requirements that may include this training. The Board recommends that you make sure you check with all potential agencies prior to ruling out the need for a CPR card.
